Why Your Logo Matters

Why Your Logo Matters

What makes a good logo? What draws you to a brand? Have you ever taken the time to actually look at a logo, and suddenly realized how it represents their brand in ways you hadn't noticed previously? Small details and symbolic representations of what they do, their values, who they are. A very common example used to point this type of sublte detail in logo's out is the FedEx brand logo. You've seen it a thousand times; on trucks, boxes, store fronts, but how many times have you noticed the arrow hidden between the 'e' and the 'x'?

FedEx Logo Example

The arrow represents movement and speed, and thats what FedEx does, they move things from Point A to Point B quickly, which, when it comes down to it, is what we all want from a delivery/postal service, right?

Another great example of an effective logo design and branding is Target's 'bullseye' logo. It's simple, instantly recognizeable, and fits the company name to a T. Although the design itself is rather simple, the bright red contrasted against the white makes the Target logo stand out in any setting.

Target Logo Example

Your logo should be a visual representation of your brand. A properly designed logo will tell your story for you. If your logo isn't selling your product, it's selling you short. More often than not, a customer will choose a product or brand over a competitor's based simply on their logo and branding or packaging. Your business logo should communicate what your brand does without the customer having to guess, and will hopefully create a long-lasting visual imprint on the customers subconscious mind creating a sense of brand loyalty that will bring customers back time after time.
